FAQs

What does the initial consultation involve?

During the initial consultation, one of our attorneys will begin by reviewing the history of your case and conducting a preliminary assessment of your pertinent documents. Importantly, anything said during the initial consultation is completely confidential even if you do not decide to retain our firm.

The purpose of the initial consultation is for us to gain an understanding of the legal issues in your case and recommend a course of action that best achieves your goals.

Please feel free to call our main office if you have additional questions or concerns about the initial consultation process.

How long does the initial consultation take?

Typically, an initial consultation takes approximately one (1) hour. However, if your case is particularly complex, we are committed to spending as much time as needed to explain difficult issues and answer all of your questions. Our goal is to gain your confidence and ensure an understanding of the legal issues involved in your case.

How much does the initial consultation cost?

One word: FREE! The initial consultation is a chance for you to interview us and see if we are the right fit for you. There are no-strings attached, meaning you will not have to pay for the initial consultation even if you decide not to retain our firm or if we are unable to take you on as a client.

Do I have to come to the office or do you make house calls?

We are happy to meet with you wherever is most convenient, whether it be at our office or your home.

If my parent wants to make a change to his/her estate plan, can I attend the consultation (or any meeting thereafter)?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. As part of the attorney-client relationship, an attorney owes his/her client an ethical duty of loyalty and must maintain the client’s confidences. The purpose of this rule is to encourage complete candor between the attorney and client, and to ensure that every aspect of the relationship furthers the client’s interests.

If your parent or family member is unable to transport him or herself to our offices, we welcome you to bring/drive him/her and wait in our reception area during his/her appointment.
